November is THE month where Black Friday resides and retails kick it into high gear for the holiday season. Lots of deals will be coming up this month, but be careful because not everything will save you the most amount of money.

Here’s What To Buy In November
Kitchen Deals
If you’re in the market for pots and pans, small kitchen appliances, or even high-end items like the Kitchen Aid Mixer, you’ll find deep discounts and lots of deals. They’ve already started at some retailers and will continue straight through the month. So if you’re in the market for some new dishware or have been eyeing a kitchen appliance all year, this is the month to make that purchase. Watch sites like Amazon, Sears, and Macy’s lowest prices of the season for some of the best deals.
Major Appliances
Need a new dishwasher? Has your family grown resulting in your need for a larger capacity washer and dryer? This is the month to make those major appliance purchases. Black Friday week will be the week that will have the best deals with the deepest discounts, but I’ve already seen many ads with significant discounts. The best deals will come from Sears, Best Buy, Home Depot, and Lowes.

Tools
Drills and hand tools will also be significantly discounted in November. Watch Home Depot, Lowes, Sears, Ace Hardware and Harbor Freight Tools for the best deals. These retailers will be competing for your dollars. If dad needs a new drill, you should be able to find just what he wants with a great price tag.
Televisions
The wait is finally over. Now is the time to make that upgrade to an HDTV. November is THE month of TV deals. Black Friday should see some unbelievable cheap deals, but other deals will abound. Start watching and reviewing sneak peek store ads to see who’s offering what and how much you’ll save.

Laptops
Historically you can get great deals on laptop computers and this year will be no different. If you decide to go with a super cheap laptop, deals like last year where you were able to grab a laptop for $99 realize that these systems provide inferior hardware. Great for social media and web browsing, but not for much else. If grandma wants to venture into the world-wide web, that might be a good alternative to something more expensive. Again, watch the sneak peek ads that will come out soon and start doing your comparisons, so you get the best deal out there.
Apparel
You won’t need to wait until Black Friday as retailers will be marking down clothes and offering discounts starting on Monday of the week of Thanksgiving. Also, many retailers will offer stackable coupons for anything from 20% – 30% more off the listed sale price.

Consoles
Some price reductions have already been seen on Sony and XBox systems but expect the deepest discounts and bundles on Black Friday. The best deals will include two free games.
Here’s What Not To Buy In November
Of course with the beginning of the holiday shopping season, deals will abound on just about everything. But make sure you do your homework and seek out the best deals out there. But there are a few things to stay away from.
Gift Cards
There will be so many gift card offers in December you should absolutely, positively not buy them in November. Check out DealNews.com during the month of December to learn about all the offers that will be out there. Last year there was so many, they wrote a special weekly piece highlighting all the offers.
Vacations and Air Fare Packages
Wait until January as most offers are no better than other times during the year.
Furniture Indoors and Out
You probably won’t find anything spectacular available on Black Friday or any other time during November. Typically your best deals for these purchases occur during the warmer months.

Other Things To Consider
If you plan on shopping on Amazon.com, one of my favorite places to shop, make sure you use the camelcamelcamel price tracking tool.
You can learn more about the camel here, but in a nutshell, you pick the price point you’re willing to pay and the camel will notify you when the price drops to that amount. It’s a great feature, so make sure you take advantage of it.
