A few weeks ago I saw a comment on my blog from one of my readers who was worried she’d forget the 12 Habits of People Who Always Have A Clean Home and I thought,”make a checklist and printable!”
I’ve had over 140 comments on this blog post alone. The vast majority of people who’ve read the post are appreciative of the suggestions. Many do these tasks already and expressed their total agreement with the list.
Recently, I had one person scold me for vacuuming every day instead of spending quality time with my children. My “child” is 32, will turn 33 on Monday and I spend lots of time with her.
The fact is, my home is relatively small, 1200 square feet, and three cats produce a lot of cat hair that needs to be sucked up on a regular basis.
It takes me five minutes to vacuum. So, even if I had small children, I don’t think 5 minutes a day is taking away from quality time.
I stand by my vacuum everyday routine for me, but I also recognize this might not be for everyone.
Ultimately we all need to decide how we want our home environment to look.
For me, it has been and will always be important for me to live in an environment that’s NOT chaotic. The world has plenty of that in it already, and I don’t want that replicated in my home.
Organization and cleanliness are values. You have to decide whether or not you value a clean and organized home or not. And if you don’t value that, that’s ok too.
Don’t measure yourself against my yardstick. Find the balance that’s right for you.
With that being said, for all my readers who are concerned with forgetting the habits or want to cultivate the habits of their family, here’s a free checklist printable just for you in the Free Resource Library!
Our handy checklist gives you the 12 habits to follow each day to create a clean home. We take the guesswork out of cleaning.
