I used to think I was immune to bug bites and for the most part I am. They just don’t like me that much. That was until this Fourth of July when I was literally in the woods surrounded by a massive amount of mosquitoes.
The thought of having to spray myself with the traditional over the counter bug sprays that are loaded with chemicals was more than I could bear, but I had to do it.
I did spray, and of course it did work. It probably did something else to me but I’d rather not think about what that might have been.
When I got home, I headed to my essential oil collection, contacted my friend and got the recipe for an all natural bug spray.
I made my brew and decided I needed to test it out to see how it would work. Of course I’d heard lots of positives about home-made bug sprays, but I’m the type that needs to see for myself.
I set up my archery set in the back yard at dusk to see what would happen. I was out there for approximately 10 minutes when I finally got bit.
I grabbed my bottle and sprayed my arms, legs, face, head etc., and waited. I was having a great round of archery and was hoping a bug bite wouldn’t distract me from my shot and ruin my aim. To my delight, it really helped to keep the bugs away.
If you have to choose, choose wisely folks. I’d rather spray myself with all natural essential oils, rather than chemicals I can barely spell or pronounce. It’s safe on children too.
I definitely learned my lesson. Next time I won’t leave home without it!
