A testimony from Louri Boilard
It has been nearly 5 years since my husband and I have used a credit card, there are many reasons to ditch the credit cards but for us there were a few primary reasons.
These are listed in no particular order because all of the reasons made sense to us.

Less Spending
It is no secret that when you have credit cards in your wallet one is more likely to splurge or impulse buy on things that are not necessarily within your budget. When you are using the cash method to spend, you are a lot less likely to let the bills leave the wallet. We do check our bank accounts on a daily basis as our debit card is the only “credit card” we use. This keeps us accountable for all our spending and stops us from splurging.
-
Budgeting
We are big on tracking our expenses and but when you use credit cards it’s nearly impossible to budget. As we run several small businesses we have found over the years that tracking cash is much simpler for us and our accountant as well. The credit card bills/statements were once a big headache! Not anymore. Using cash made it much more simple to stick to our budget.

A Lot Less Debt
It is no secret that credit card usage can leave you with a heaping amount of debt. We definitely learned that the hard way – too many bills and not enough cash to pay them. The day we decided to put all those little plastic demons through the shredder was equivalent to a Fourth of July Freedom Celebration!

Financial Freedom
This is the BIG ONE – when we rid ourselves of credit cards and those bills we were no longer living in a dysfunctional co-dependent relationship with our money. The Cash Method, as I choose to call it, puts you in the driver’s seat of your money and spending habits. Talk about liberation! Debt can be a huge drag, like a suck the life out of you drag. We chose financial freedom over credit cards and we won.
