Managing stress is never easy. It can become overwhelming and lead to worse conditions like developing ongoing anxiety over everyday issues. So, it’s best to tackle stress early and often to manage it better and not get overwhelmed by life. Stress is not a trivial matter, and we should all take it seriously!
Here are 4 steps to take to stay healthy, even when it’s a stressful time.

1. Make Exercise Part of Your Daily Routine
When getting overstressed, it’s all too easy to say, “I’ll skip exercise today because I just don’t have time for it.”
This is a mistake.
Performing some fitness exercises raises your heart rate and takes your mind away from current concerns. It is a stress reliever in itself, which is great. But it will also improve your cardiovascular fitness, muscle strength, and assist you in managing tough times.
While daily exercise might seem like too much, it doesn’t need to be a 90-minute routine. A quick 15-minute walk around the block is perfectly fine. Performing a half-hour yoga routine while watching a yoga workout on a YouTube channel works too.
2. Get Enough Rest
Resting between periods of extreme productivity is good, but it won’t let you recover fully. For that, you need a good night’s sleep that includes enough REM cycles so that your mind and body can become refreshed and repair itself, where needed.
If your current mattress is a sore point for you in more ways than one, then treat yourself to something infinitely better. You’ll sleep well and wake up more resilient to tackle the day. One of the most comfortable mattresses is a memory foam one as noted here because it adjusts to the shape of your body. It cushions you and is incredibly supportive.
3. Keep Up with Your Support Network
The support network for you can be a group of close friends, family, or a loved one.
Usually, even when living as a couple,it’s useful to have other friends to provide perspective on your life.
It turns out that staying in touch with friends is particularly important to mental health and overall wellbeing. It allows us to share what’s stressing us out. Being able to share relieves some of the emotional entanglements and stress that is built up around it. Your friends may also have suggestions on a course of action to resolve the problem (and eliminate the stress) that you hadn’t thought of trying.
Don’t make the mistake of getting so busy that you neglect important social connections. They’re part of who you are and how you relate to the world.
4. Eat Highly Nutritious Foods
A diet that predominantly consists of fast food, too few green vegetables, and little or no fruit isn’t providing what your body needs. It can survive for a time on this type of diet, but it will eventually cause you to have less energy, feel lethargic late in the afternoon, and serves you poorly.
Instead, switch to a diet that includes leaner meals by getting as close to the original food source as possible. This means, a chicken breast with paprika, chili, or mixed herbs added to it for flavoring instead of fried chicken. Eat brown rice instead of white or egg fried rice or fried potatoes.
Include more fresh vegetables on the plate; avoid frozen where you can. And, also don’t skimp on the fresh fruit either.
Also, move away from sodas (even sugar-free ones) to consume more water. It’s what your body craves the most to stay properly hydrated.
By being purposeful about handling stress and, where you can, eliminating it, it’s better managed. When doing so, it makes each day more pleasant. You’ll feel and be healthier as a result too.
