This is the sixth day of my 28 Days of Spending Zero Challenge. To read all the posts in order, start with Day One or visit the Overview Page.
Before we round out week one, I want to take you through a series of questions so you can get an accurate picture of where you stand about your spending and debt situation. Hold on you’re going to take a spending and debt quiz!
This quiz might bum you out. That’s your reality; you have to accept that and move forward. It might give you the serious kick in the butt you need. Sometimes, you need a healthy level of disgust with yourself to make a change, and often the reality of a spending and debt quiz shows you in black and white what you might otherwise be trying to avoid.
Hopefully, during the next No Spend Challenge, when you take the quiz, your score will have risen, and you’ll see the concrete progress you’ve made in fixing your finances.
Day 6: Spending and Debt Quiz
Spending and Debt quizzes are a dime a dozen, but they all point to the same conclusion: either you have a problem that needs addressing, or you don’t. Then, based on your answers it gives you some indication whether or not your problem is a BIB ole problem or you just need a few tweaks.
Either way, you’ll learn something concrete.
If you do have a BIG problem, and you were not aware of the extent of it, don’t panic. I remember when I took a quiz many years ago, and the result was less than flattering. Although not what I wanted to accept about myself, it was the truth of the situation. It did provide that healthy level of disgust I referenced earlier. And although I don’t’ think it’s healthy to be disgusted with yourself permanently, for me, it was enough to catapult me into action.
Soon after I replaced that disgust with awe in how I was able to take charge of my finances (for the first time) and start repairing the damage I had done. That’s what will happen for you. Eventually, you will see all of this in the past because you will have changed your thinking and behavior and found financial peace.
Don’t be afraid to take the quiz. Go do it now.
Sit somewhere quiet where you won’t be disturbed. Take the time to read each question carefully. You’ll be assessing your situation using a scale of 1 – 5 with 1 being ‘Less True’ and five being “More True.”
Circle the number that comes closest to representing how true the statement is for you right now. Then score yourself, using the key provided.
